Mark Jorgensen began his grappling journey as a 6th grader in junior high wrestling. He was a quick stand out winning many tournaments across California in Folkstyle, Freestyle, and Greco-Roman wrestling. In high school he was a dual sport athlete playing varsity football and wrestling. Mark won many tournaments in high school, most notably the Tim Brown Invitational and CIF Masters, going on to place in the California State Tournament in all 3 wrestling styles and competing at the US nationals. After high school Mark was offered a scholarship to wrestle at CBU where he wrestled for 2 years before leaving the team due to a neck injury.
After college Mark took some time off grappling before rediscovering his passion in the art Jiu Jitsu. He became a student of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu in 2019 and earned his purple belt under Ron Turner in 2022.
Mark may still compete here and there, but his true passion is passing on his wrestling knowledge and techniques to the next generation of grapplers. His approach to coaching wrestling begins with mental and technical understanding, then moves to physical. He firmly believes anyone can be successful in this sport with consistency and diligence.
